Ever needed to calculate a date in the future but didn’t feel like looking it up? My girlfriend Katie was looking up dates for an invoice so I created a bookmarklet that takes a number of days and then alerts it to screen so you can copy and paste it. I might end up fixing it in the future so that it’ll print the result to whatever field is currently focused, but for now, you’ll all have to make due. Read more »
Frequently while programming, I find myself in need of a complete list of the States, their abbreviations and sometimes even Countries. Usually I end up prowling Google trying to find some sort of list that I can then import in to a database. Each time I did it I kept wondering why I hadn’t created some script for that yet.
I know it’s more efficient to make use of a database with tables for States and Countries, however, in the event that I don’t need one or am just doing some sort of one off solution, I’ve created a couple functions and two arrays to help myself, and maybe you guys out. Read more »
A little while back, I wrote a post about Load Impact and how I was using their service to test my site. Chris from over at LoadImpact.com emailed me a little while back to update me on some new features they’ve implemented to assist in the testing process.
Now, you can add a flash widget to your site that allows anyone to perform the light load test or use the page analyzer tool which is super handy. To top it off, if they decide to then make a purchase, you’ll get paid a kickback as it tracks which site they came from via a cookie saved by the flash file. You’ll have to email them for specific files though, just send off your request to support@loadimpact.com.

Load Impact really provide some insanely useful tools to help your website’s growth and I’ll most certainly be using it periodically to check how my site’s doing. Keep up the good work guys, I look forward to seeing more updates in the future.
Anyone else make use of their services? Leave a comment and let me know how it’s helped you out!
I’ve been debating whether or not to add avatars to the comments section. After changing my mind approximately 10,000 times, the thought of having a visual representation won out over the bland text based approach.
Some of you may have noticed the monster portraits on a couple of the commenter’s posts. Since I don’t allow registration, I thought it would be neat to use the build in WordPress function to generate a monster avatar based on the email address provided. If you don’t want a monster, feel free to register a Gravatar over at their website, I have it set to use the Gravatar first and if that doesn’t exist, it’ll make you in to a monster.
